Girl Scout Troop 82405 Helps the Horses!

Mylestone is always very grateful to kids who want to help the horses, but this year brought helping the horses to a whole new level thanks to the Philanthropic Recognition program of the Girl Scouts of NJ. Through their cookie sales and kind hearts, they raised $4,000 which was used to purchase a Horsemen’s Outlet gift card to buy food and supplies for the horses! Project leader Stephanie Quinton describes how this amazing accomplishment came about:

The Mylestone horses were visited by a few of the Girl Scouts from Troop 82405 from Franklin Township who dropped off some items from our wish list. Phebe, held by Bruce Thompson, was checking out the bags of horse treats the girls had purchased.

“Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey took earning cookie recognitions to a new level and introduced Philanthropic recognitions! Each year our Cookie program has a new mascot and mascot themed items that girls can earn as they sell different level of cookie packages. This year our mascot was Hope the Horse (see photo)! Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey introduced our inaugural year of Philanthropic Recognitions and went on a mission to find Mylestone Equine Rescue, an organization in GSHNJ’s geographical footprint to support. As girls hit milestones in their cookie program, they were given the opportunity to earn a recognition that would be delivered to them OR opt-out of the recognition and instead donate to help Mylestone!

“Girl Scouts from Hunterdon, Somerset, Hudson, Essex, Union, southern Warren, and northwestern Middlesex counties all had the option to participate in Philanthropic recognitions. In total, our girls helped donate $4,000 in food and supplies for Mylestone to continue in their mission. Over 150+ Girl Scouts opted to donate instead of receive a recognition themselves, and as they sold more, they donated more in goods!”

We can’t thank Stephanie and the participating Girl Scouts enough for their hard work, dedication to our cause, and kind hearts in choosing Mylestone’s horses over their own personal recognitions. Thank you!
