Greener Pastures | Lucy
Lucy came to Mylestone with Peppermint Patty, both miniature horse mares who were part of an ongoing cruelty investigation. They had been living in a septic leech field on the property of an animal collector. They were kept in an area knee deep in muck making it almost impossible for them to lie down. Both were in bad shape, not only thin but covered with lice and their coats were poor from not being dewormed properly. Both also needed major dental work.
Lucy has a deformed mouth that should have been seen by a dentist long ago. Instead, she had to endure the suffering of her bottom teeth sticking out past the top, leaving the top teeth too close on the back of the bottom teeth causing biting into her gums. It is evident that both she and Patty had been abused. They were afraid of people, but have since gotten much better. If Lucy didn't have enough problems, small children rode her which is truly horrible since she is only about 30 inches tall. They both had a long road to recovery, but have so improved that they are now barely recognizable as the horses that first arrived.
Lucy and Patty would both be 25 years old now, in 2021,but sadly, Peppermint Patty has passed away. She was experiencing some neurological issues and suffered a major stroke. We all miss Patty terribly, and most of all, her longtime best friend Lucy, but we are grateful that Lucy still has their other friend Tyler to keep her company.
Lucy is, of course, still available for sponsorship and would welcome your caring for her. If interested in sponsoring, you can sponsor Lucy on her own!
